British warships at anchor and troops coming ashore at Boston make this engraving distinct, recalling the regular soldiers landed in the town in 1768. Those troops were sent to back royal customs officials and enforce the Townshend Acts amid colonial protest, and their presence heightened the tensions that ended in the Boston Massacre in 1770. This is a later restrike from a shortened plate, so part of the title and a row of foreground ships are missing, though the cartouche is dedicated to the Earl of Hillsborough, secretary of state for America.
