The intersection of 15th and Webster Streets in Washington, D.C., is the subject of this 8 by 6 inch glass negative, which the National Photo Company labeled "Times, 15th & Webster St." The company documented the city's streets and buildings in the early twentieth century, and this plate is dated to about 1920 based on related negatives in the same range. Because it is glass, it shows streaks and blemishes from the gradual breakdown of its original coating, which are part of the object's physical history. Herbert A. French gave the negative to the Library of Congress in 1947.
