Franklin comes home to Philadelphia in this scene, returning in 1785 after years abroad as America's minister to France. The record names his daughter Sarah Bache, her husband Richard Bache, their son Benjamin Franklin Bache, and Thomas McKean among those present, and the street is busy with sedan chairs and sailing ships. The color halftone was issued around 1932 as part of The Foundation Press's *Pageant of a Nation* series, which reproduced historical paintings for wide circulation during the Depression era.
