Rather than a portrait or a scene, this item preserves the printed order of procession for Benjamin Franklin's funeral in Philadelphia, which the notice dates to the day before its publication on April 22, 1790. Franklin had died on April 17 at the age of 84, and the march through the city followed a fixed sequence of participants. The text appeared in the *Gazetteer of the United States* on April 28, so this is a detail cut from a newspaper page rather than a standalone broadside. It offers a useful record of how one of the nation's founders was publicly mourned in the early republic.
