This glass negative from the George Grantham Bain Collection shows Theodore Roosevelt Jr., the eldest son of President Theodore Roosevelt, and it is one of the few images in the Presidents group that centers on a family member rather than the president himself. The record gives no date, and its title comes from caption data the Bain News Service wrote on the negative or its card, so the exact occasion is uncertain. Roosevelt Jr. went on to serve as assistant secretary of the Navy and governor of Puerto Rico, and he landed with the 4th Infantry Division on Utah Beach on D-Day in 1944, where he died weeks later.
