Oona O'Neill, daughter of playwright Eugene O'Neill, appears in this 1952 photograph at New York International Airport, accompanied by Arthur Kelly. That year her husband, Charlie Chaplin, was abroad when U.S. authorities revoked his reentry permit, and Oona made her own journey across the Atlantic to join him in England. The picture captures a departure that carried real personal and political weight, at an airport that was then becoming a major gateway for transatlantic travel.
