This text-only poster addresses unmarried men directly and announces that the last days for voluntary enlistment are near. A paste-on slip added to the sheet gives "Last day March 1," a deadline that was likely added after printing to update the message. Britain relied on volunteers until the Military Service Act of 1916 introduced conscription, beginning with single men, so posters like this one pressed young unmarried men to enlist before compulsion took effect. The Parliamentary Recruiting Committee issued many such posters, and David Allen & Sons of Harrow was one of the largest commercial poster printers of the period.
