Where many recruiting posters of 1916 rely on a soldier or a flag, this one is set entirely in type. Its two short passages tie enlistment to citizenship, presenting it as a privilege that lets a man defend his honour and home and as a duty to fight the common foe and bring his comrades along. The "Group System" it names was the Derby Scheme of 1915, which let men sign up in groups by age and be called up later. Printed by David Allen & Sons for the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee, it is poster number 143 in that series.
