Elizabeth Breckenridge, daughter of Henry Breckenridge, appears here with the caption "on Quaker," a detail the record does not explain further, and the address given is 2230 California Street. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C., firm, made the glass negative on March 29, 1920, as part of its broad record of the city's streets, homes and residents in the early twentieth century. Like many glass plates of its era, this one shows streaks and blemishes from the natural deterioration of its original coating, which is worth keeping in mind when viewing it.
