A color poster from about 1941 puts Bette Davis, Herbert Marshall and Teresa Wright at the center of its advertising for *The Little Foxes*, the film adaptation of Lillian Hellman's 1939 Broadway play. Davis plays Regina Giddens, a Southern woman who schemes to gain a share of a family fortune built on a cotton business, and William Wyler's direction and Gregg Toland's cinematography gave the film its tense, carefully composed look. Davis earned an Academy Award nomination for the role, so the poster is a useful record of how studios marketed dark, female-centered dramas to wartime audiences.
