Drawn under the title New Nixon's theater, this 1930 ink plan documents a Boardwalk playhouse that Atlantic City knew as the Globe, a reminder that the resort's seafront theaters could carry more than one name. The drawing belongs to the Architecture, Design and Engineering collection, a group of plans and elevations that record how buildings were laid out before construction or alteration. Drawings like this help historians compare a theater's intended form with what was actually built, and they show how movie houses were fitted into the crowded resort district of the period. Its precise ink lines also offer a clear view of the drafting conventions architects used in 1930.
