Beall's poster turns a news photograph into a call to buy war bonds. Its design adapts an Associated Press image of American servicemen raising the flag on Iwo Jima, a moment that had already become one of the war's most recognized pictures. The Treasury Department commissioned the poster for the Seventh War Loan drive, and its "Now--All together" slogan urged civilians to pool their savings to finance the final stages of the fighting in the Pacific.
