Addressed directly to women, this 1917 poster sets itself apart from the many wartime images of men in uniform. Its title asks women to help America's sons win the war by buying U.S. Government Bonds in the Second Liberty Loan. The federal government sold these bonds to finance the nation's entry into the First World War, and the second campaign, launched that October, asked ordinary households to lend money to the government. The lithograph was designed by R.H. Porteus and printed in color by Edwards and Deutsch Lithographing Company of Chicago, one of the firms that produced many of the Liberty Loan posters.
