The poster asks for $170,500,000 for seven wartime service groups at once: the YMCA, YWCA, National Catholic War Council (Knights of Columbus), Jewish Welfare Board, War Camp Community Service, American Library Association, and Salvation Army. Instead of separate appeals, these organizations pooled their fundraising into one national drive in late 1918, when they were supporting American troops at home and overseas with canteens, recreation halls, religious services, and libraries. The combined title reflects how the campaign tried to present many faith-based and civic groups as a single united effort. The poster's bold lettering and large dollar figure show how central money raising was to the home front during the war.
