The poster asks workers to "lend your strength to the red triangle," tying the YMCA's emblem to the labor of ordinary civilians at home. It was issued in 1918 for the United War Work Campaign, which ran from November 11 to 18 and combined several wartime charities into one subscription drive for American troops. The campaign's week coincided with the Armistice on November 11, which gave the appeal added urgency. The catalog also lists masonry among its subjects, a reminder of how war fundraising drew on the building trades and other working people.
