An ink drawing of the Fabian theater at the corner of Washington and Newark streets in Hoboken, New Jersey, sets this sheet apart from the other theater views here. It is dated 1928 and belongs to the Library of Congress's architecture, design and engineering holdings, so it records the building as a technical drawing rather than a painted or photographed scene. In the late 1920s, Hoboken, a dense port city across the Hudson from Manhattan, was filling with neighborhood movie houses, and drawings like this one show how such buildings were laid out for audiences, screens and stages.
