Tall and narrow at about 211 by 102 centimeters, this 1896 chromolithograph advertises the Crawford bicycle, the brand name that gives the poster its title. It was printed by Strobridge & Co., a lithography firm with offices in Cincinnati and New York that produced many colorful advertising posters in the 1890s. The image belongs to the height of the American bicycle craze, when manufacturers competed for riders with bold color and idealized scenes of cycling. The details here come from an older caption card and have not been independently verified.
