This 1896 poster promotes the Crawford bicycle at a striking scale, measuring about 211 by 102 centimeters, large enough to dominate a shop window or wall. Strobridge & Co., a lithographic firm based in Cincinnati and New York, produced its bold color printing, a method widely used for eye-catching advertising in the 1890s. The date places it at the height of the bicycle craze, when cycling was spreading quickly among city workers and women alike. Details come from an older caption card and have not been independently verified.
