The Anheuser-Busch team pictured here is caught mid-course in an obstacle test at a New York Work Horse Parade, an event that showed off the strength and training of the heavy draft horses still hauling freight through city streets in the early 1900s. Brewery teams of well-matched Clydesdales were among the most admired entries. The Bain News Service, whose photographers covered New York events for newspapers, made this image on a glass negative, and the record dates it to June 1908. The title comes from caption data the agency supplied and has not been independently verified.
