Wilhelm II appears here cast as a devil in this 1915 Russian poster, titled "Enemy of Humanity" in translation. Wartime posters like it were printed in large numbers to rally support and present the German emperor as a moral threat rather than simply a rival monarch. This example reproduces a lithograph issued by I.D. Sytina of Moscow, a publisher known for popular printed sheets in the tradition of cheap illustrated broadsides. Its color and blunt caricature offer a useful view of how Russian audiences were encouraged to see the enemy during the war.
