This photograph shows a Ford tractor display in Washington, D.C., during the 1920s, a period when the company's Fordson tractor was reshaping American farm work. Introduced in 1917, the Fordson was built in large numbers and sold at a far lower price than most rival machines, so manufacturers and dealers often showed off their equipment at public exhibitions like this one. The picture was made by the National Photo Company, a commercial studio that recorded everyday life in the capital during these decades, and it offers a glimpse of how farm machinery was presented to the public before tractors became common on American farms.
