Olaf Gulbransson, the Norwegian-born artist best known for his drawings in the Munich satirical magazine *Simplicissimus*, created this color lithograph for the Ludendorff-Spende, a fundraising drive named for General Erich Ludendorff. Printed in Munich in 1918 by Fritz Maison, it appealed for money to support German soldiers disabled in the First World War. Posters like this one show how the home front was asked to care for wounded veterans as the war dragged on and casualties mounted. Its bold color printing also illustrates how a well-known illustrator's talent could be turned to public charity appeals.
