Where many Austrian war-loan posters rely on soldiers or patriotic symbols, this one, titled *Zeichnet Kriegsanleihe!* ("Subscribe to the War Loan!"), turns to a plowing scene and ties farm work to the war effort. Designed by R. Lendl and printed in Vienna by the K.u.K. Hofl. J. Weiner firm around 1918, it belongs to a wave of lithographs urging citizens to buy government bonds that helped finance the Habsburg war effort in its final years. Such campaigns relied on ordinary savers, and the poster asks viewers to see their own small contribution as part of the national cause.
