We'll Finish the Job" is the slogan Gerrit A. Beneker put at the center of this 1918 lithograph, a tall color poster about 96 by 67 centimeters printed by Edwards Deutsch Litho Co. of Chicago. The Victory Liberty Loan was the last of the federal bond drives that helped pay for American participation in World War I. Its name was chosen for the final campaign in 1919, after the armistice, so the 1918 date and the call to finish the task show the poster was made while the war was still being fought. Posters like this one framed buying war bonds as a civic duty.
