A helmet and grave crosses set this poster apart from the flag-and-eagle appeals of the period. Its slogan, "He fought to a finish," asks the home front to finish the job by buying Liberty bonds. The federal government relied on a series of these bond drives to pay for the war, and the Victory Liberty Loan was the last of them. Lithographs like this one were displayed in post offices, banks, and storefronts, and their blunt wording and bold color were typical of wartime persuasion.
