Little beyond the title survives for this one. "Florida" was recorded by the Bain News Service on the negative or its caption card, and the title has not been independently verified. The agency supplied newspapers with photographs of people, places and events in the early twentieth century, and its captions were often brief. Glass plates like this one, 5 by 7 inches or smaller, were the standard working medium before flexible film replaced them, and the collection as a whole offers a broad view of American news photography from about 1900 into the 1920s.
