Its title, "More courtesy," is a plea written straight onto the poster, and the subject line points to a concern with how people treat one another on the job. The poster was sponsored by the Federal theater Project in New York, which the Works Progress Administration created in 1935 to put theater workers back to work during the Depression. Its silkscreen color printing reflects the cheap, fast method that New York's federal poster workshops used to advertise public programs to working audiences in 1936.
