A horse takes the place of the evergreen in this 1919 scene, its harness and body apparently dressed up as a Christmas tree. The National Photo Company, a commercial studio based in Washington, D.C., made this 8 by 6 inch glass negative that year, the year after the armistice that ended the First World War. The title comes from the company's own sleeve notation and has not been independently verified, and the plate shows streaks from deterioration of its coating.
