Cincinnati and New York are both named as the place of production for this 1900 color lithograph titled *Naughty Anthony*, a title that suggests a stage production or comic entertainment being advertised. The Strobridge Litho. Co. was a major American commercial printer that produced large theatrical, circus, and advertising posters in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Posters of this kind were designed to catch the eye of passersby on city streets, so their bold color and simplified figures were part of the point. The sheet's roughly 74 by 49 centimeter size is typical of the larger display posters the firm printed for the period.
