The glass negative's sleeve names three men, C.J. Hogan, Jno. Foley and P.S. Ridsdale, and dates the picture January 7, 1921. The National Photo Company, which worked in Washington, D.C., in the early twentieth century, produced large numbers of portraits and documentary views, and its negatives later came to the Library of Congress as a gift. The names were recorded by the company and have not been independently confirmed, so they are worth checking against other sources. Streaks and blemishes on the glass are the result of natural deterioration in the original coatings, a common condition for plates of this age.
