Three men are named on this January 1921 glass negative from the National Photo Company: C.J. Hogan, Jno. Foley and P.S. Ridsdale. The names come from unverified notes on the negative sleeve, so their roles are not recorded. The company worked in Washington, D.C., from about 1907 to 1932, producing a large body of portraits and views of officials, visitors and city life. Glass plates like this one often show streaks and blemishes from the slow breakdown of their original coatings, so some marks on the image come from the plate itself. Herbert A. French gave the negative to the Library of Congress in 1947.
