The inscription over the Speaker's dais in the House chamber is the subject here, not the chamber as a whole. The photomechanical print dates from 1962, the year the national motto "In God We Trust," adopted by Congress in 1956, was displayed on the wall above the rostrum. The House chamber itself dates to the 1850s, when it was completed in the south wing of the Capitol, so the lettering sits within a room of much older design. The print's value lies in showing how a modern addition was set into a 19th-century interior.
