The poster advertises a Los Angeles production of *Wild Birds*, a play by Dan Totheroh, whose name appears in the record. The Federal theater Project, a branch of the Works Progress Administration that put unemployed actors, designers, and stagehands back to work, sponsored the show. Its posters were made with silkscreen, a stencil process that let artists print bold, flat areas of color cheaply in large runs. The record's subject headings, which include youth and mental states, point to the play's concern with troubled young people, a theme that drew attention during the Depression years.
