Fort Belvoir, Virginia, was an Army engineer post, and in 1941 its replacement training center was preparing new soldiers for engineer units as the country expanded its forces before entering World War II. This silkscreen poster, produced under the Federal Art Project of the Work Projects Administration, presents the uniform those recruits would wear. The program's poster workshops used silkscreen to produce bold, flat-color designs in quantity, and its wartime posts are now valued both as graphic art and as records of the mobilization years.
