What sets this poster apart is its double sponsorship. Along with the Federal Art Project, the Indian Arts and Crafts Board, a federal agency created in 1935 to promote Native American arts and crafts, backed the exhibition it advertises. The silkscreen print was made in 1936 by the Federal Art Project's poster division in New York, which turned out posters for public events and used the medium's flat, bold color to reach passersby. The stamp on the back, dated 1941, marks when the print was filed, not when it was made.
