A silkscreen poster from 1936 announces an exhibition of paintings made by children under the Federal Art Project in New York. The Federal Art Project was one of the arts programs of the Works Progress Administration, the New Deal agency that put unemployed artists, writers and performers to work during the Great Depression. Its children's art shows drew wide public attention and showed the creative output of young students who were taught in community and school settings. The poster belongs to the WPA Poster Collection at the Library of Congress, which preserves the publicity work the program produced.
