Drawn in pencil on light gray-green paper, this sheet records the Quartermaster's Depot at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, a supply post the Union Army relied on during the Civil War. The town sat where the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers meet, and its rail and river access made it a strategic prize that changed hands several times between 1861 and 1865.
