A 1918 two-color lithograph advertising the serial novels *Scipion Pegoulade* and *Le Héros malgré lui*, which the Paris daily *L'Oeuvre* was set to run beginning November 3. The novels were written by G. de la Fouchardière and Rodolphe Bringer, and the paper was edited by the journalist Gustave Téry. The crowds, arrivals and cheering figures in the design give the notice a festive, public tone, set against the final months of World War I in France, when newspapers competed hard for readers. The signature, possibly "C. Haulor," is uncertain in the record.
