The picture shows the original Grand Central Depot in Manhattan, the railroad station the New York Central built at 42nd Street and Park Avenue after it opened in 1871. Its trains and platforms served a fast-growing city, and it stood until the present Grand Central Terminal replaced it in 1913. The record credits the photograph to A.P. Yates of Syracuse, but that attribution comes from an unverified caption card, so it is worth checking against other sources.
