Of the railway posters on this board, this one stands out for its focus on the locomotive itself, a subject the Canadian Pacific Railway promoted heavily in the mid-twentieth century. The company, which completed its transcontinental line in 1885, used posters like this to market its passenger service across Canada and beyond. Printed as a color lithograph around 1950 and credited to Ewart, the poster dates from the postwar years, when rail travel was still a major way to cross the country. Its large format was designed to catch the eye of passersby at stations and in public places.
