A lithograph promoting the Northern Pacific Railroad's Yellowstone Park route, it presents the trip as one connected journey from the park to Puget Sound and on to Alaska. Its emphasis on horse-drawn coaches reflects how visitors actually toured the park in the 1890s and 1900s. Travelers rode the train to the park's northern gateway, then transferred to open coaches for the road tours past geysers and mountain scenery. Railroads like the Northern Pacific used such colorful advertising to draw tourists westward, and these pamphlets were a major part of that effort to sell the West as a destination.
