Three different kinds of bicycles anchor this print, which shows a group of men posing with machines that differ in design and purpose. Photographs from 1910 to 1930 often capture the bicycle at a turning point, when the safety bicycle was firmly established but motor vehicles were quickly gaining ground on city streets and country roads. The print carries a U.S. Copyright Office number, which suggests it was registered for protection, a common step for photographs made for publication or sale in that era. Today it is valuable for documenting the range of cycling equipment of the period and the men who posed with it.
