Its German-language title, *Die Grösste Schaustellung der Welt*, announces Barnum & Bailey's "greatest show on earth" to German-speaking audiences, and the rest of the title promises comic scenes of riders on bicycles and roller skates. The chromolithograph was produced by the Strobridge Lithographing Company, whose Cincinnati and New York shops made many of the bold, multicolor posters that circuses used to advertise ahead of their arrival in town. Bicycling and roller skating were both hugely popular around 1900, so the acts reflect the fashions of the day as much as the showmanship of the circus.
