Skiing is the subject this Ludwig Hohlwein poster promotes at Wildbad Kreuth, a spa village in the Bavarian Alps near Tegernsee, south of Munich. It was produced by the Vereinigte Druckereien und Kunstanstalten in Munich, and Hohlwein was one of the best-known German poster designers of the interwar years, admired for bold flat shapes and simplified forms that read at a glance. The record dates it only to between 1910 and 1940, but its notes point to the 1930s, when winter sports were drawing more visitors to the region.
