Few posters from the late 1950s gather as many leading names as this one, which bills Marlon Brando, Montgomery Clift, Dean Martin, Hope Lange, Barbara Rush and May Britt together for 20th Century Fox's *The Young Lions*. Adapted from Irwin Shaw's 1948 novel, the 1958 film follows American and German soldiers through World War II, with Brando as a German officer and Clift as a Jewish American private. The story was among the more serious war dramas of its day, and it brought two of the decade's most celebrated Method-trained actors together on a large studio production. The poster leans on that cast as much as on the story itself.
