A camel, the Great Pyramids, and the Sphinx share the frame in this color poster advertising TWA flights to Egypt, a combination that stood in for Egyptian travel in the era. David Klein, the artist credited here, produced airline posters of this kind, built for quick reading from a terminal wall or a magazine page. The poster was printed by the Strobridge Lithographing Company of Cincinnati, a firm known for large commercial lithography, and it reflects the postwar push by American airlines to present international air travel as a glamorous leisure experience.
