The tower of the Jewellers' Building is the subject here, rather than the street or skyline around it. The print is dated late December, around 1927, and was copyrighted as a photoprint by E.L. Fowler, so it was made as a commercial view of the building. Chicago's downtown was densely built up in the 1920s, and the Loop's office towers, many of them housing specialized trades, were a common subject for photographers and postcard makers of that era. The catalog date comes from an unverified caption card, so the exact day should be treated with some caution.
