Few attractions at the 1933 Century of Progress International Exposition drew more attention than the movies, and this print shows a Hollywood exhibit set up on the Chicago lakefront during the fair's first season. The exposition marked a century since Chicago's incorporation in 1833, and its planners filled the grounds with displays on science, industry and entertainment. Film was a natural draw during the Depression, when movie houses offered cheap escape. The caption card for this print is unverified, so details of the display itself are best checked against other sources.
