The line on this poster closes Joyce Kilmer's 1913 poem "Trees," and the Federal Art Project turned that sentiment into a call for conservation. This 1938 silkscreen was made to promote tree care and the state parks and reserves of Ohio. Silkscreen suited the program's modest print runs and bold color, letting artists produce inexpensive posters for public buildings and parks. The date stamped on the back, August 1, 1938, places it during the years when the WPA poster program was producing its most work.
