A color poster from 1894, printed in New York by the Winchell Printing Co., promises that a traveler's trunk can be checked from New York to London, with the London & North Western Railway handling the rail portion. The company was one of Britain's largest railways, running main lines from London's Euston station to Liverpool and the northwest, so an Atlantic steamship to Liverpool would have been the natural link in such a trip. Through-checking of baggage spared passengers from handling heavy trunks at each port and station. The record's details come from an old caption card and have not been verified, so the poster is best read as period advertising.
